Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej [now OnestiGheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej [now Onesti Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast to receive a score of a perfect of 10 points in the Olympic competition. Comaneci was spotted by Bela Karolyi, later to be the Romanian gymnastics instructor when she was six years old. First competing in the junior national championships of Romania in 1969 she placed 13th. Then in the year 1970, she the Romanian gymnast won. In 1972, at the communist nations' meet for junior athletes before the Olympics she was awarded three gold medals. After that, in 1973 and '74 she was the junior champion in all aspects. At her first competition as a senior in 1975 she bested the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion, winning 4 gold and one silver medal. She became the first female to perform a reverse double salo on the uneven parallel bar in the event she won American Cup, New York City 1976. Carol Marie Wayne born 6 September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol was a professional as an entertainer when she was a teenager. In her early years, Carol began as a figure skater in traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. They featured ice skating shows that included theatrical performances.
