April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born July 4th in 1995. In the seventh grade she began to take guitar lessons and piano lessons. That ignited her enthusiasm for songwriting. April Lockhart penned her first track"Different" when she was twelve years old. At the age of 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing songs and honed her musicianship ability. She began writing with her dad at home in NY and LA soon after. April included other subjects in her hit song"Take my Hand. These topics were meant for the friends of hers who struggled with things like peer pressure and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal thinking. Lockhart collaborates with famous Clean Beauty brand Ilia and also is a lifestyle influencer with her own growing following. Born without a left hand, Lockhart is an important part of herself. However, it's not her entire story. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on her Instagram account, but she doesn't make it the focus of her story. What's the message? The message? We each contain multitudes, that our identity and physical bodies aren't what they appear. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance should define my character. It's not my intention to influence disability because I have many more things to contribute." It doesn't impact my daily life. I conduct things normally, and I've discovered my own way to adjust the things. The same is true for me, and I believe it should be discussed. Lockhart is a huge example to other women with regards to acceptance of oneself. Lockhart admits to having been through a series of phases in her body, and felt uncomfortable in certain situations wearing outfits that showcased the arms of her. She now wears any outfit she wishes and shares pictures on Facebook with pride. Self-love for her was a long trip. However, that is typical for people who has insecurities. I think it's important to surround yourself with those who can discern and understand your heart.
