Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. Her early Broadway productions included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working with well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford is set to next appear alongside Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres on November 22nd. Ashford is currently working in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2023. He is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the show. Ashford's most recent role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford has been brought up in Denver is now based living in Los Angeles and New York.
